Only applicants who meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements and meet all selective requirements (listed below) will be placed on the eligible list.

Performs legal work relating to the asbestos, amusement, elevator, contractor registration, and OSHA programs. Reviews documents and works with other staff to determine appropriate action. Assists supervisors with such duties as instructing employees, answering questions, review documents and distributing and balancing the workload and checking work. Prepares, serves, and files discovery, letters, petitions for enforcement, satisfactions of judgment, subpoenas, warrants, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents. Represents the Division of Labor in hearings and participates in depositions. Maintains organized and complete case files. Meets deadlines.

Advises on legal questions, regulations, opinions of the courts, attorneys general, and recommends interpretation; outlines the facts of the applicable law.

Works with the Labor Commissioner to draft legislation and respond to requests for information from legislators and legislative staff. Prepares Fiscal Notes. Attends committee and subcommittee meetings if needed.

Selectives

354 Law Degree
Possession of a law degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  1. Graduation from an accredited school of law, and experience equal to five years of full-time work in the practice of law; not including experience as a law clerk.
  2. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes three years of full-time work with the employing agency in the practice of law; not including experience as a law clerk.
